My 2021 rate is $165.00/ 50-minute session.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE INSURANCE THAT YOU'RE PAYING FOR! Please check your OUT OF NETWORK (OON) BENEFITS.
You may have the option to see whatever provider you prefer and be reimbursed by your insurance company. As patients using health insurance, we tend to stay 'in network.' Sometimes our insurance plan doesn't provide options. More often, they do, but they don't advertise this to you because it isn't in the insurance companies' interest.
The way OON benefits work is that you pay the provider up front for services rendered, and then you submit a claim to your health insurance provider for partial reimbursement. Often, the reimbursement rate is substantial, resulting in your actual out-of-pocket payment being equal to or even lower than your typical co-pay. I will provide the paperwork required for submission to your insurance company.
Want to see if you have the option?
Call the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
(1) What is my out-of-network benefit for psychotherapy? (This will be a percentage.) If you have OON coverage, also ask:
(2) What is the regional rate for psychotherapy? (This is the average dollar amount providers in your area charge for professional services and the amount your insurance provider uses to determine their reimbursement rate.)
If you're asked for a "CPT code," here's a key to the ones I use most commonly:
90837 is for Individual therapy
90847 is for Couples therapy
90791 is for Initial Assessment (our first meeting)
(3) To what address/ How do I submit my superbills? (This is the documentation I provide you.)
Example: If your OON benefit is 80% and the regional rate is $160, you pay to me my rate of $165, then submit the claim to the insurance company for reimbursement, which would be $128. You've paid $37 out-of-pocket.
Payment is due at the time of service. Cash or check is preferred; debit, credit, and Health Savings Account cards are also accepted. Electronic payment is typical for Telehealth consumers.
