Counseling for Families & CouplesStress in relationships results from one or a combination of factors including:
difficulty with communication skills unrealistic or unclear expectations abuse substance use/ abuse family of origin issues understanding of mental illness difficulty accepting differences adjusting to change The primary focus of couples and family therapy is the identification of patterns which lead to conflict in relationships. Patterns can be identified in therapy, leading to learning and practicing new and forgotten methods of interacting, enhancing intimacy, and restoring healthy levels of functioning. |
Group Counseling & Peer Support

There is healing power in simply relating to other human beings. Group support offers the opportunity to gain strength and insight from each others' experience, as well as support, education, and guidance from the facilitating clinician.
Groups are offered as interest presents. Most groups will meet weekly for 8-16 sessions. Some examples of groups:
Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault
Adolescent/ Teen Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault
Partners/ Family of Substance Abusers
Positive Parenting

Parenting Enrichment
Understanding developmental stages, setting appropriate limits, and communicating in ways your children can understand are important components of building and maintaining healthy, positive relationships between you and your children. Assistance with these skills is provided through group education as well as on an individual/family basis. Parenting enrichment with an emphasis on communicating with your children about sex and sexuality is offered as well.
